Milan Records To Release 'Going Clear: Scientology And The Prison Of Belief' Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
LOS ANGELES (Top40 Charts) Milan Records will release GOING CLEAR: SCIENTOLOGY AND THE PRISON OF BELIEF - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack digitally on March 17th, followed by a physical CD release on Tuesday, April 7th. The album features original music by composer Will Bates (ANOTHER EARTH, WE STEAL SECRETS: THE STORY OF WIKILEAKS).

"There is a deeply emotional side to the story," Will Bates explained. "There is courage and sadness in the former members of the church who have been brave enough to come forward. This was my task, to somehow sonically describe these strange and otherworldly beliefs but do it with a high level of respect."

Will Bates is an award winning composer and founder of Fall On Your Sword. As a saxophonist, Bates has collaborated with a myriad of legendary artists ranging from 60's icon Lulu to techno legend Marshall Jefferson. A prolific producer and composer, Bates has collaborated with a similarly diverse bunch including Mike Rutherford, Roy Ayers and Morcheeba's Skye Edwards. As a solo artist and multi-instrumentalist, Bates has recorded and toured under the name of his own post-punk band The Rinse and collaborated with Electric Six front-man Dick Valentine as The Evil Cowards. Bates' first outings as a film composer bore fruit quickly as he scored Ry Russo-Young's YOU WON'T MISS ME, which premiered at Sundance and won a Gotham Award.

In 2007, Bates created the first of a series of videos under the name Fall On Your Sword. His videos quickly went viral on YouTube, racking up hits in the millions and an explosive FOYS live act soon followed. In 2009 Fall On Your Sword evolved into a music production company and audio post facility with purpose built studios in Brooklyn New York. Since then, FOYS has created music for award-winning commercials and feature films such as the critically acclaimed scores to ANOTHER EARTH and WE STEAL SECRETS: THE STORY OF WIKILEAKS. Bates' most recent scores include I ORIGINS directed by Mike Cahill, THE NOTORIOUS MR. BOUT directed by Maxim Pozdorovkin and Tony Gerber, and STEVE JOBS: THE MAN IN THE MACHINE which will debut at SXSW this month..

Directed by Oscar® winner Alex Gibney and based on the book by Pulitzer Prize winner Lawrence Wright, GOING CLEAR: SCIENTOLOGY AND THE PRISON OF BELIEF profiles eight former members of the Church of Scientology, whose most prominent adherents include A-list Hollywood celebrities, shining a light on how the church cultivates true believers, detailing their experiences and what they are willing to do in the name of religion. One of the most talked about films at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival, this powerful documentary highlights the Church's origins, from its roots in the mind of founder L. Ron Hubbard to its rise in popularity in Hollywood and beyond. The heart of GOING CLEAR: SCIENTOLOGY AND THE PRISON OF BELIEF is a series of shocking revelations by former insiders, including high-ranking and recognizable members such as acclaimed screenwriter Paul Haggis, who describe the systematic history of abuse and betrayal by Church officials, including the current leadership of the Church. GOING CLEAR: SCIENTOLOGY AND THE PRISON OF BELIEF is a provocative tale of ego, exploitation and lust for power

"The score is thematic, there are melodies for Hubbard, Miscavige and certain members of the church," Bates said. "This was something Alex was keen to develop and I think reflects his film making style. To me his documentaries play as narratives, and this incredible story is no exception."
