SANTA MONICA, CA. (Geffen Records) -
Rooney fans waiting for the ultimate souvenir need wait no longer. The L.A.-based Geffen Records quintet is set to release "Spit & Sweat," a DVD package that includes several performances of the band live in concert, behind-the-scenes footage, in-depth interviews and four classic
Rooney videos. Co-directed by
Rooney drummer Ned Brower, "Spit & Sweat" is set to arrive in stores November 16.
For most of the last two years,
Rooney has been traveling the world on tour. The final concert, held this past July at L.A.'s Wiltern Theater, was captured on film, and the new DVD features eight songs from that sold-out concert. Tracks include "Simply Because," "Blueside," "Daisy Duke," "Pop Stars," "I'm Shakin'," "Sorry Sorry" and one brand new song "
Paralyzed" (Donna's guitarist Alison Robertson joined the band on stage during the latter). With a gorgeous Pacific Ocean sunset as their backdrop, the band gave it up for their hometown fans in what was considered one of their best shows ever.
In between concert performances, the DVD also shows glimpses of
Rooney touring the world, riding the London subway, performing in Tokyo, peeing in the men's room and cruising the highways of
America in their tour bus. Along the way, all five members sit for insightful interviews in which they discuss their history, their musical style and influences, and reveal the secrets of the band's appeal. Finally, "Spit & Sweat" also includes four
Rooney music videos: "Blueside," "I'm Shakin'," "If It Were Up To Me" and the never before seen "Popstars."

Rooney's line-up includes guitarist/lead vocalist/songwriter Robert Carmine, drummer/backing vocalist Ned Brower, guitarist/backing vocalist Taylor Locke, keyboardist Louis Stephens and bassist Matthew Winter. The band drew attention early on for their sunny melodies and amazing harmonies. Having toured with such acts as Weezer, The
Strokes and playing the mainstage of Lollapalooza 2003, the band released their debut CD in 2003, which People Magazine called "Irresistible power pop" and inspired Rolling Stone to put the band in their "10 Artists 2 Watch" feature. Currently,
Rooney is wrapping up a new Geffen album with producer Tony Hoffer (Supergrass, Beck). The group has laid down 16 tracks so far, with a projected release in spring of 2005.
