Dan Aykroyd & Judy Belushi Announce Creation Of Blues Brothers Records
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Dan Aykroyd and Judy Belushi have announced the creation of Blues Brothers Records, a new record label dedicated to the development of blues artists that will be distributed by venerable jazz label Blue Note Records, a flagship label of the Capitol Music Group.

Aykroyd, aka Elwood Blues, has made a lifelong quest of his support for blues musicians, seeking out new and upcoming artists and giving them an invaluable platform via his long-running and award-winning radio show Elwood's BluesMobile which is syndicated across North America on over 150 stations. Aykroyd and Belushi also famously co-founded the House of Blues, which will be partnering with the new venture for promotional events at HoB venues

"The incredible contribution of Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi towards keeping the blues alive cannot be overstated," says Blue Note President Don Was. "Blue Note is excited to join forces with the long arm of The Blues Brothers in order to discover and nurture new purveyors of this great American idiom."

"The recorded music industry today presents huge challenges but also great opportunities," says Aykroyd. "Judy and I are excited to partner with the master ear for talent Don Was and Blue Note Records in fulfilling the true 'Mission From God'—to find, develop and nurture emerging blues performers. After all that's where American music began in the first place and now it is in the hands of the next generation."

Longtime Blues Brothers rep and Panacea Entertainment chairman Eric Gardner will run Blues Brothers Records, which will be based in Los Angeles, California. The label has begun accepting talent submissions, audio/video links can be sent to [email protected].
