TORONTO, Canada (www.madviolet.com) - The kismet that united musical duo Brenley MacEachern and Lisa MacIsaac four years ago as Madviolet has seen them release a much-admired CD (Worry the Jury), achieve a Top 40 Chart hit with their first single, 'Light it Up' and perform everywhere from the
National Library to Hugh's Room to Massey Hall to the Bottom Line and the Montreux Jazz Festival.
A new single "
Wake Up", is scheduled for release in November and the hard working pair was recently granted developmental funding from the
Radio Starmaker Fund which helps qualified Canadian recording artists further their careers.
The Halifax Herald's Steve Cooke's description of Madviolet is apt.
..."pretty hard to resist for any crowd, whether mixing sweet harmonies as a twosome for folk shows or blowing things up with a broader pop sound"...
Brenley and Lisa have occasionally been confused as a Celtic act because of their musical roots (and the MacIsaac name). Worry The Jury, (the album) however, proves that Madviolet is restricted by neither genre nor geography.
"lush harmonies...dark and dreamy...smartly written road songs...fused by MacEachern's rich vocals and acoustic guitar, and MacIsaac's moody violin and electric guitar" - Cape Breton Post
"Worry the Jury [is] a world-class effort...combining folk foundation with a richer pop/rock palette" - Halifax Herald
"The strength of their CD rests on the pairing of musical elements' - Journal-Pioneer
"Listening to their tunes, you do kinda feel like the duo was meant to be. It doesn't hurt that both women are super-talented musicians for whom performing is second nature" - Sarah Liss, Now Magazine
The Huron Carole Tour, now in its 17th year, is the popular benefit that has turns music into food. (I will fix this) It has raised more than $ 3.25 M and thousands of kilos of food for the nation's food banks. Other artists on the tour this year are Lunch at Allen's, with Ian Thomas, Cindy Church, Marc Jordan and Murray McLauchlan, Saskatchewan jazz sensation Andrea Menard and current CCMA Independent Male Artist of the Year Aaron Pritchett.
Madviolet is second on the bill and contribute to the fund raising compilation CD by the artists on tour with their rendition of the Brenda Lee classic "Angel and the Little Blue Bell". The benefit disc will be available at the shows and through Festival Distribution.
