Singer/Songwriter, Classic Rocker Jay Kalian Releases New EP "4/20 The Song," To Mark Unofficial Marijuana Holiday
New York, NY (Top40 Charts / Jay Kalian) German singer-songwriter Jay Kalian has never made a secret of his feelings about marijuana legalization, and now he's asking his fans and the larger music community to show their support as well. His new EP, "4/20 The Song," is a siren call for marijuana legalization and an overt reference to the unofficial, worldwide marijuana holiday. The EP is available now from iTunes or Amazon.

"4/20 The Song" is an infectiously catchy yet serious look at the legalization issue. Jay wrote the song expressly for those who plan to celebrate this holiday. Since 2010, a majority of Americans have been in favor of legalization, with younger generations having the loudest voice in the debate.

"I am passionate about my music and all of the issues I touch upon in my writing," said Jay. "Whether I'm playing my own songs or covers, my music comes from the heart. My years spent carefully working on my craft eventually find their way into the music. As an art form, music is always changing, and I always look for new ideas and influences on my work."

Jay's debut album, "The Eyes of the Child," hit shelves in July 2013. Each of the original songs on the album relates a story from his life. "Living on the Street," for instance, harkens back to the days Jay worked as a street musician. That experience introduced him to homeless communities and inspired him to dedicate the proceeds from the song to a nonprofit organization benefiting homeless people.

As early as 2016, Jay hopes once more to tour the US. He enjoyed successful tours in the states in 2011 and 2013. Given the groundswell of enthusiasm for marijuana legalization currently underway, Jay expects future US tours to draw a bevy of new fans.

While Jay's original compositions draw upon his extraordinary and transformative life experiences, his covers plumb the depths of the classic rock catalog. His style is immediately recognizable to those who appreciate the work of rock icons like Eric Clapton, Pink Floyd and Metallica.
