NEW YORK (Top40 Charts) - US rapper Murphy Lee was arrested after police pulled him over for an expired license plate and found marijuana in his Mercedes, authorities said.

Murphy Lee, 24 whose real name is Tohri M. Harper, was initially pulled over for an expired license plate when cops found under 35 grams of marijuana in his Mercedes and driving under the influence. Lee's lawyer declined to discuss the charges, but said that his client plans to plead not guilty at his court appearance next month.
After going gold with last year's Murphy's Law, the rapper won a Grammy earlier this year for his collaboration with mentor Nelly and P. Diddy, "Shake Your Tailfeather."
Murphy Lee is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 22.
