Already being hailed as a major new player on the post-hardcore scene with glowing reviews of the album, the band hit the road on a run of UK tour dates throughout September, October and November in support of the record (full dates below).
Front man Oisín Fogarty Graveson explains of the band's writing process for the album; "All these ideas existed and were things I wanted to write about, but often I find the overall concept of the songs and the record as a whole is something which emerges after months (and in this case years) of working alongside four of my best friends. That's how these things come about, I believe, and I wouldn't change the process in order to try and make the songs more conceptually strong, because by holding fast on your values you can ignore something which the writing process deems revelatory. Writing music in a group is a process in and of itself, and even though I write the words themselves, the concepts and meanings come from a relationship between all of us. It's pure love, and it's about being part of something bigger than yourself which is truly the meaning behind é. The wise man never says everything he thinks, but always thinks everything he says."
A quintet of friends who have been playing music with one another since they were very young, this band are an insane blend of genres, unlike any rock band you've ever heard before. Thoughtful, socially aware and with a clear message, they're focused on providing an emotive depth both sonically and aesthetically that is sorely missing in the majority of modern alternative music. Fusing elements of metal, hardcore, early punk, jazz, funk and even classical, they have as much in common with The
Mars Volta and
Enter Shikari as they do with The Dillinger Escape Plan, Marmozets or Letlive, with the potential to be one of the most compelling and unique bands to emerge from the underground in quite some time.
Pulo Revé are at their scintillating best when challenging expectations of a hardcore record - whether that's experimenting with electronica and atmospheric synths, injecting jazz breaks, shredded
Latino guitar solos, bongo drums and percussive acoustic fingerstyle sections, or layering complex, philosophically-laced spoken word poetry over crushing riffs in a realm usually reserved for guttural screams and macho bullshit.
