Your ears will be whispering thankful words to you once they hear songs like "Home Again," "Two Into One," and "Without." While in town, the guys will be in the studio making magic for their upcoming EP. Details follow.
Fixer: Musical Mayhem in 2004
Car crashes. Arrests. Hangovers. Unemployment. The behind-the-scenes world of Fixer in 2004 was fit for headlines. They are the biggest rock stars of whom the mainstream world has never heard. While the indie press was busy praising the band for releasing their All The Pleasure That You Crave EP, selling out gigs, and appearing on television and radio programs, the members of Fixer (Evan Saffer-vocals, Wilson Lihn-guitar, J Brown-bass, The Reverend Diamond Tim Newton-drums) were pushing the DIY style to limits its never been. Having played over 50 shows this year, including one opening for
Dizzy Reed of Guns 'N Roses, Fixer have managed once again to succeed expectations and leave one question burning on the tips of everyone's tongues: Why isn't this band signed yet?
Fixer bring the best of the past and introduce the musicianship of the future through their songs. As frontman, Saffer has no inhibitions. He channels Axel Rose's throat and Scott Weiland's stage presence, while adding his own dose of style and seductiveness. Instrumentally, Fixer focus on gunning guitar solos, heavy drums, and thunderous bass. They bring a dangerous dose of unpredictability and sexuality to live performances that drive the crowd wild.
When it comes to live shows, Fixer give it their all both on stage and off. They braved torrential downpores in November and drove from NYC to Washington DC for a show. Unfortunately, an 18-wheeler crashed into their van as they past through Delaware. No one was seriously injured then. However, Saffer suffered a bit this past fall when he was arrested in NYC for posting Fixer flyers on public property. Using the night in jail to his advantage, he penned some new tunes. Always putting the band first, several members of Fixer have lost their day jobs numerous times because they took off work too much to go play shows.
Talk about dedication and determination. Now Fixer are showing their strength in the studio. The band is spending the first half of December at Cock of the Walk Studios in Kennesaw, Georgia. Leading them in the recording process are Brian Howes (Closure) and Jeff Tomei (Smashing Pumpkins, Matchbox 20, Jerry Cantrell). Four killer tracks are in the works.
