Lakeshore Records Presents Krisha - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Lakeshore Records will release the KRISHA - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack digitally on April 8th and on CD later this year. The album features the films original score by Brian McOmber (A TEACHER, NUTS!, formerly of the band Dirty Projectors).

Its a turbulent film that unfolds over the course of one fateful Thanksgiving Day, said McOmber. Trey Shults, the writer and director, likes to say that it is the biggest day of Krisha's life. Every single music cue was intended to mirror and accentuate Krisha's emotional state as she tries to rekindle a relationship with her estranged family.

When Krisha shows up at her sisters Texas home on Thanksgiving morning, her close and extended family greet her with a mixture of warmth and wariness. Almost immediately, a palpable unease permeates the air, one which only grows in force as Krisha gets to work cooking the turkey and trying to make up for lost time by catching up with her various relatives, chief among them her nephew, Trey. As Krisha's attempts at reconciliation become increasingly rebuffed, tension and suspicion reach their peak, with long-buried secrets and deep-seated resentments coming to the fore as everyone becomes immersed in an emotionally charged familial reckoning.

Hope, anxiety, fear, nostalgia, anger and desperation are just some of the emotions in the film that we tried to accentuate with the music, described McOmber. We knew we wanted each music cue to have a unique vibe, instrumentation and style, while at the same time avoid anything that didn't feel appropriate to the films sonic palette. It was challenging to come up with music so varied in emotion, style and instrumentation for such a small film. We tried not to get carried away by ambition.

Brian McOmber is a self-taught drummer and composer who improvises and collaborates with a variety of other musicians. He has performed on six continents and collaborated live or in the studio with artists such as Bjrk, David Byrne, Dirty Projectors, Doudou NDiaye Rose, James Shaw (Metric), Juana Molina, Kurt Ballou (Converge), St. Vincent, Tim Kingsbury (Arcade Fire), and Yeasayer. Brian began scoring films in 2013 with Hannah Fidells, A TEACHER, which won the SXSW emerging female director award and is currently being adapted into a television series at HBO. In the last few years he has scored over twenty films that have premiered at festivals such as Cannes, Sundance, Berlin, Venice, New Directors/New Films and the MoMA PS1.

In 2015, Brian composed the music for Trey Edward Shults feature film, KRISHA (A24), winner of the John Cassavetes Independent Spirit Award and the SXSW Grand Jury and Audience Awards. The music for KRISHA has been described as bracing and beautiful by Michael Phillips of the Chicago Tribune and as show-stopping by Shelia OMalley at RogerEbert.com. Brian will begin working on Shults follow-up for A24 in 2016. Currently, Brian has multiple other feature film scores on the festival circuit including Celia Rowlson-Halls silent dance film, MA, winner or AFIs audience award, and Penny Lanes stranger-than-fiction documentary, NUTS!, winner of a Sundance Special Jury Award.

A24 presents KRISHA currently in theaters. Lakeshore Records will release the KRISHA - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack digitally on April 8th and on CD later this year.
