LOS ANGELES (Top40 Charts) - In relief effort news, Styx, REO Speedwagon, Bad Company, Journey, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Kansas, Eddie Money, Survivor, John Waite, Edgar Winter, and Grand Funk Railroad's Mark Farner, among others, have united for two "Volunteers for America" concerts Oct. 20 at the HiFiBuys Lakewood Amphitheater in Atlanta and Oct. 21 at the Smirnoff Music Center in Dallas.

"I just couldn't stand by without doing something to help all of the people whose lives have been destroyed by the terrible tragedies of Sept. 11th," said Tommy Shaw, organizer and singer-guitarist of Styx, in a statement released Thursday (Sept. 27). "I just starting calling up all of my friends to see what we could do. The response has been amazing and we expect to add many more artists to the line up."

"With everything that has happened, we are all feeling such a sense of profound loss and grief," added Journey guitarist Neal Schon. "We all just need to get out there and do whatever we can to help remember the heroes who have fallen and feel as though we are contributing to the rebuilding of lives and property that were destroyed on Sept. 11th."

Lineups for the two shows are as follows: The Atlanta show will include Lynyrd Skynyrd, Styx, Journey, REO Speedwagon, Bad Company, John Waite, Mark Farner, and Edgar Winter. Dallas will host Journey, Styx, REO Speedwagon, Bad Company, Kansas, Survivor, Eddie Money, John Waite, Edgar Winter, and Mark Farner.

Tickets for "Volunteers for America" will go on sale from Saturday (Sept. 29) through Ticketmaster outlets. All proceeds from the two shows will benefit the American Red Cross and the New York Firefighters and Police.
