Kylie holds top chart spot

LONDON, UK (BBC) - Kylie Minogue has held onto the number one spot in the UK singles pop charts. It is the Australian singer's second week at the top - but her rival Victoria Beckham's single has slipped down to a disappointing 18th place.

Pop group Steps' cover of the Diana Ross classic Chain Reaction failed to topple Can't Get You Out of My Head as it entered at number two.

The chart battle between Minogue and Victoria Beckham was convincingly won last week by the former soap star. The former Spice Girl's debut solo single entered at number six but has now fallen to number 18 as a crop of new singles debut in the top 10.

Austrian DJ Otzi's former number one hit and holiday anthem Hey Baby continues to sell well at number three, 10 weeks after its release.

The second highest new entry comes from the trio City High with What Would You Do at number four.

Hot on their heels is Popstars rejects Liberty at number five with Thinking it Over. The group formed after they lost out to the five eventual winners of the ITV1 show Popstars, who went on to become the successful group Hear'Say.

Other new entries include Mary J Blige's Family Affair at number eight, followed by Elton John's first single from his forthcoming album Songs from the West Coast at number nine.

Movie stars Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor have scored a top 40 hit with a song taken from the Moulin Rouge soundtrack. Come What May entered at number 27 in Sunday's chart.

Meanwhile, Dido's No Angel album has returned to the top of the album charts, nearly a year after its release.

Macy Gray's The ID has slipped to number two while Tracy Chapman's greatest hits album entered at number three.
