NEW YORK (Top40 Charts) - According to reports that surfaced earlier this week, the New York medical examiner's office has declared that rapper Ol' Dirty Bastard died of an accidental overdose. The rapper - real name Russell Jones - died suddenly last month after complaining of chest pains.

The New York Medical Examiner's Office has confirmed Russell Jones, also known by his stage name Ol' Dirty Bastard, died from a drug overdose.

Jones, who had a well-documented history of drug abuse, collapsed Nov. 13 after complaining of chest pain while working at the old Wu-Tang Clan Studios in Manhattan, a day after missing a Wu-Tang Clan reunion show in nearby East Rutherford, N.J.
The 35-year-old had a history of drug abuse and was sentenced to two years imprisonment for drug possession in 2001. He was working on new material when he died.
