NEW YORK (CDUniverse.com) - A new version of John Lennon's classic, "Imagine," featuring Hanson, Squeeze's Glen Tilbrook, and Irish folk rockers Hothouse Flowers, is currently in the works in order to benefit orphans of last month's terrorist attacks. All acts involved will record parts in their own home towns for assemblage into one CD single, to be made available later this month through the website for What Are Records?
Others participating include the Innocence Mission, Sally Taylor, David Yazbek, Jordan Hill, Everything, and members of David Gray's band.

"Imagine" has experienced a renewed higher profile since the September 11 tragedies, including Rock legend Neil Young's performance of the venerable song on the telethon, America: A Tribute To Heroes, on September 21. Meanwhile, the lines, "Imagine all the people living live in peace," were used recently in a full-page ad in the New York Times that was placed anonymously by Lennon's widow, Yoko Ono.
