J Grgry Comes Out Of The Dark With New Single "Cave Birds"
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Dark-pop group, J GRGRY released the stunning music video for "Cave Birds", the second single off of their forthcoming EP out in early 2017. Written from the viewpoint of a person about to drastically change their life, the track is cathartic as it is ambitious. The single is now available on iTunes and Spotify, and for viewing on YouTube.

"Cave Birds" opens with a slow beat and an enigmatic vibe that leads into Joe Gregory's captivating voice. The opening lyrics set the mood and foundation for the rest of the song, "there's other fish in the sea, other dreams to dream." Gregory wrote the song just prior to ending a serious relationship, "I followed the thought process that people would try to console me and tell me I'll find someone else soon, inherently implying that without a partner I would be destined to a life of misery and chaos," he explains. "Cave Birds", produced by J GRGRY and mixed by Robert Cheek (Band Of Horses, Tera Melos, Deftones), is the second single off of the band's forthcoming EP, Gold Teeth + Glass Eyes.

The music video, directed by Cheryl Ediss, Tyler Kalberg, and Patrick Richardson Wright, is meant to be a representation of J GRGRY's live show, which is unique to say the least. "I was a 19 year-old rookie sitting in my first major recording studio. No amount of whiskey could keep my voice from shaking in the vocal booth. That's when I decided to take my clothes off, thinking that maybe the fear of being naked would replace my fear of singing and it worked." Newly sober at the beginning of this new project, he came up with the concept of naked "statues" beside him on stage to help remind him of that session and that fear is just in his head.

Born and raised in Seattle, Joe Gregory has lived a nomadic life as an adult as a member of both Dolour and The Drama. As personal as J GRGRY's music is, composed by the mental or emotional misery endured in Gregory's lifetime, one can truly find validity and strength behind each lyric. The band is comprised of producer Robert Cheek, guitarist Ryan Leyva (Motopony, The Cops, Blake Lewis), and drummer Steven Barci (Duff McKagen, Davy Knowles). Like Gregory, each of these players are veterans of the industry, relentless in their drive to create and share their music.

"Cave Birds" is a beautiful track with a message that can resonate with anyone who has ever been in a relationship on the verge of collapse. To celebrate this release, J GRGRY is playing two shows in New York City, the first on Sunday, November 6th at Mercury Lounge and then, Monday November 7th at Union Hall. Check out "Cave Birds" on iTunes and Spotify and be sure to watch the video on YouTube.
