A Street Cat Named Bob - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Available November 11, 2016
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Sony Music Masterworks announces the release of A Street Cat Named Bob-Original Motion Picture Soundtrack. Available November 11, the soundtrack features six original songs written by written by Charlie Fink (Noah and the Whale), sung by the main actor, Luke Treadaway alongside music scored by Oscar nominee David Hirschfelder. The film opens in theaters November 18.

Based on the much-loved, international best-selling book, the new film, A Street Cat Named Bob, tells the moving and life-affirming true story of how James Bowen, a busker and recovering drug addict, has his life transformed by his friendship with a stray cat.

Charlie Fink, British singer-songwriter, producer and filmmaker, best known for fronting the indie band Noah and the Whale, created six original songs, especially for A Street Cat Named Bob. The songs have prominent placement in the film, sung on screen at key moments in the story by the main character, James (played by actor Luke Treadaway), while busking on the streets of London. Fink and Treadway, a former member of the rock band Lizardsun, recorded these tracks in the studio for the album. The songs range in sound from acoustic singer-songwriter to full rock band. With catchy melodies and emotional, uplifting lyrics, they have a wide-ranging and thoroughly sympathetic appeal.
David Hirschfelder is recognized globally as one of Australia's most distinguished screen-composers, garnering Oscar nominations for Scott Hicks' Shine and Shekhar Kapur's Elizabeth. He is also the winner of two BAFTA Awards for Strictly Ballroom and Elizabeth. His recent film-scores include Craig Monahan's Healing, Jonathan Teplitzky's The Railway Man, and more recently, Russell Crowe's The Water Diviner. 2015 saw Hirschfelder join forces with Jocelyn Moorhouse to score her long awaited return feature The Dressmaker that broke box office records in Australia.

A Street Cat Named Bob stars Luke Treadaway; Bob the Cat as Bob; Ruta Gedmintas; Joanne Froggatt and Anthony Head. The film is directed by Roger Spottiswoode, with a script from Tim John and Maria Nation. The film is produced by Adam Rolston for Shooting Script Films. Damian Jones is an executive producer alongside Tim Smith, Paul Brett, Anders Eden and James Scott for Prescience.

When James Bowen found an injured cat prowling the hallway of his sheltered accommodation, little did he know that this ginger tom, whom he named Bob- would bring light and hope to his life, changing his world forever. Bowen had spent the previous ten years living on the streets, or in temporary accommodation and had slipped into drug use in a bid to escape the realities of homelessness. By the time he met Bob in March 2007 he had enrolled in a drug rehab program and was living in sheltered accommodation in North London. Despite those tentative steps along the path to recovery, when Bowen met Bob he was still living hand to mouth, struggling to cope with life. Yet Bowen could not turn his back on Bob; he felt compelled to help this injured animal. Once Bob had healed, the pair became inseparable. Bob gained a loving friend, Bowen an inspiration to change his life. Bowen committed his and Bob's extraordinary story to paper. Their tale was published in 2012, when Bowen teamed up with writer Garry Jenkins and their debut publication together, A Street Cat Named Bob, became a bestseller. To date it has sold more than 5 million copies worldwide.
