NEW YORK (J/Arista Records) - As her new CD/DVD release Afterglow Live passes the double platinum mark for music DVDs, Sarah McLachlan hits the road for the second leg of her first North American tour in over 5 years. Her current studio album Afterglow, her first in six years, entered the Billboard chart at No 2 upon its release last year and has sold over 4 million copies worldwide.
The album spawned hit singles "Fallen," "Stupid," and "World On Fire" and has earned McLachlan a Grammy nomination this year in the "Best Female Pop Vocal" category.

Afterglow Live, her first live release since 1999's multi-platinum selling Mirrorball, chronicles McLachlan's summer tour, which kicked off July 5th in Seattle and ended on September 10th in her hometown of Vancouver. This run of upcoming dates serve as the second leg of her heralded tour and return to arenas.

Tom Moon of the Philadelphia Inquirer raved about the show: "McLachlan's voice, which has a smooth porcelain texture, soaring eagle like in the vast space. Everything McLachlan and her band attempted... was executed with crisp restraint, so as to let the poignancy embedded in the music shine."
Jon Pareles of the New York Times concurred "Her breathy voice would waft into a billowing arrangement, then it would emerge, clearer, more tremulous ... McLachlan sang a poised flourish in a lustrous, yearning voice. The concert, like McLachlan's songs was about yielding and acceptance, and it was easy to succumb to each graceful, enveloping ballad."

Afterglow Live contains 23 tracks on the DVD and 15 tracks on the CD. While most of the footage is live performance with the band, the DVD also presents behind-the-scenes footage of McLachlan's backstage and family life.

In addition, the DVD contains the videos for all three of Afterglow's singles including the stunning video for "World on Fire. The video's director Sophie Muller captures a stark performance by Sarah interspersed with scenes displaying the standard cost for video production (inclusive of all crews, location fees etc) comparing those costs with the price of food, medical supplies and education for over one million people.

This tour was the first time McLachlan has been on the road since the hugely successful and influential 1999 Lillith Tour. The Afterglow tour showcases Sarah's greatest hits along with music from her 2003 album release Afterglow.
