SYDNEY, Australia (Sony
Music Australia) - Illusive Entertainment & Frontier Touring Company are thrilled to announce that West Coast heavyweight XZIBIT will hit Oz in March for a coast to coast headline tour in support of his new album 'Weapons Of Mass Destruction'. Tix on sale January 28.
Accredited by Rolling Stone as 'becoming one of the most respected rappers in the game', Xzibit first came to public attention in the late '90s with his debut album 'At The Speed of Light' (1996) and '40 Dayz & 40 Nightz' (1998). Originally a member of the Likwit Crew, a collective of West Coast rappers, Xzibit enjoyed his first major success when he joined with Snoop Dogg for the Dr. Dre produced hit 'B***h Please'. The Dre association continued with Some L.A. Niggaz, which led to Dre inviting Xzibit on the massive US coast to coast Up In Smoke 2000 tour, featuring the likes of Snoop, Eminem, and Ice Cube.
Xzibit's next album, the Dre-executive-produced 'Restless', was released in 2000 followed by 2002's star packed 'Man Vs Machine', featuring the hits 'Symphony in X Major' and 'Multiply', which debuted at No 1 on the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop chart. On the back of his success with 'Man Vs Machine', Xzibit started hosting duties on MTV's Pimp My Ride, expanding his massive fanbase even further.
Xzibit's awesome new album, ' Weapons of Mass Destruction', features appearances from Busta Rhymes and Strong Arm Steady, production from Timbaland, Battlecat, Hi-Tek and DJ Muggs and has gotten off to a roaring start in the US, thanks to first single 'Hey Now (Mean Muggin)'.
In addition to his successes in the music arena Xzibit has been developing a portfolio in the film industry, with a cameo role in Eminem's '8 Mile', and an appearance later this year in the Jennifer Aniston suspense thriller flick 'Derailed'. He will also appear alongside Ice Cube in the upcoming 'XXX' sequel, 'XXX: State of the Union'.
2005 will see Xzibit hit Australia for his first ever headline tour of our shores, performing all his underground hits plus tracks from 'Weapons Of Mass Destruction' including the current Oz single 'Hey Now (Mean Muggin)'. For those of you who caught his explosive live sets at the Big Day Out in 2003, you'll know this is going to be one not to be missed tour!!
