FORT LAUDERDALE, FL. (www.songwriting.net) - In order to help promote talent in the music community Rolling Stone magazine has announced that it will sponsor the 10th Annual USA Songwriting Competition.
'We are delighted to have Rolling Stone magazine's involvement in this exciting milestone year of our competition. In recognition of our milestone 10th Anniversary, every person who enters the 2005 competition will receive a complimentary annual subscription of 26 issues. This is a fantastic value for the entrant by just entering', said Eddie Phoon, the event director of the USA Songwriting Competition.
Entries for the 10th Annual USA Songwriting Competition are currently being accepted. Winning songs will receive airplay on a nationally syndicated radio program 'Acoustic Caf?' as well as on XM Satellite Radio. This is the first Songwriting Competition that gives airplay to the winning songs, giving up and coming bands and aspiring songwriters the recognition and exposure they deserve.
The Grand Prize package is valued at over US$50,000 in cash, merchandise and exposure, making this the largest prize package for any annual songwriting competition. But other prizes and awards, including industry exposure and airplay are awarded to finalists in each of the 15 categories available for entry.
Many USA Songwriting Competition winners in the past have received recording and publishing contracts, as well as songs placed on film and television. Judges include A&R managers from record labels such as Warner, Universal, EMI, BMG and SONY Music.

Songs may be entered in 15 different categories including Pop, Rock/Alternative, R&B and Country. An increasingly popular and successful category is 'Lyrics Only', providing wordsmiths the opportunity to submit lyrics for any genre. The competition is aimed at promoting excellence in the art of songwriting among writers, composers, bands, singer/songwriters and solo artists in an international forum. Entries are accepted from now through May 31, 2005.

Patrice Pike, the singer-songwriter behind the Rock/Alternative group Sister Seven, from Austin, TX. 'My Three Wishes' was the winning song written by
Patrice Pike, Wayne Sutton, Sean Phillips and Darrell Phillips.
'We are ecstatic to win the competition. As a group, it emphasizes once again the credibility of our work as Sister Seven; and as individual songwriters [it emphasizes] our solo efforts apart from each other.' said
