(Sparrow Records) - One of the most acclaimed Christian bands over the past year thanks to its dynamic FIGHT THE TIDE sophomore album, Sanctus Real has just received the "Most Played Rock Artist of 2004" recognition from Radio & Records (R&R) magazine. The honor comes from a combination of four big Sanctus Real hits in 2004, two of them No 1s. The Ohio band's cover of U2's "Beautiful Day," from IN THE NAME OF LOVE: ARTISTS UNITED FOR AFRICA, kicked off last year at No 1 on the R&R Rock chart, where it stayed for four weeks. FIGHT THE TIDE's first single, "Everything About You," spent a combined eight weeks at No 1 on R&R's Rock and Christian Hit charts last summer. Two subsequent FIGHT THE TIDE singles, "Alone" and "Things Like You," have currently climbed to No 3 and No 15 on R&R's Rock and Christian Hit charts respectively. Indeed, FIGHT THE TIDE stood out among the strongest albums of 2004, making the Top 12 year-end list among the editors at ChristianMusicToday.com. Recapping the second major-label Sanctus Real project, the site asked, "Why can't more modern rock bands be this good...It's clear that Sanctus Real aspires to clearly communicate their faith walk while aspiring to become one of the premier rock bands of their time. They're one step closer on both counts."
Sanctus Real will continue to support FIGHT THE TIDE throughout 2005 and is currently headlining a United States concert tour with guests Hawk Nelson. Upcoming media coverage of Sanctus Real includes R&R magazine (Jan. 28), Campus Life (March/April), and Christian Single (March).
