NEW YORK (USA Songwriting) - In recognition of their milestone 10th Anniversary, USA Songwriting has announced a dynamic added value package to all its contestants. Every US Resident who enters the 2005 competition will receive a 1-year subscription to Rolling Stone. "This is a fantastic value for all contestants. Not only are their songs exposed to the music industry, but they also get a year's subscription to a great magazine just by entering", said Eddie Phoon, the event director of the USA Songwriting Competition.

Entries for the 10th Annual USA Songwriting Competition are currently being accepted. Winning songs will receive airplay on a nationally syndicated radio program "Acoustic Caf" as well as on XM Satellite Radio.

This is the first Songwriting Competition that gives airplay to the winning songs, giving up and coming bands and aspiring songwriters the recognition and exposure they deserve. The Grand Prize package is valued at over US$50,000 in cash, merchandise and exposure, making this the largest grand prize package for any annual songwriting competition.

Other great prizes and awards, including industry exposure and airplay are awarded to finalists in each of the 15 categories available for entry. Many USA Songwriting Competition winners in the past have received recording and publishing contracts, as well as placed songs on film and television. Judges include A&R managers from record labels such as Warner, Universal, EMI, BMG and SONY Music.

The USA Songwriting Competition is also sponsored by Sony, New Music Weekly, Steinberg, Audio-Technica, Ibanez Guitars, D'Addario Strings, Sam Ash Music Stores, IK Multimedia, Terratec, East West Sounds, MixDownMedia.com, Indie Bible, Garritan Music Software, Acoustic Cafe, Livewire Contacts, Loggins Promotion, Singer magazine, Electronic Musician magazine, Superdups.com, Sonicbids.com and XM Radio.

Songs may be entered in 5 different categories including Pop, Rock/Alternative, R&B and Country. An increasingly popular and successful category is "Lyrics Only", providing wordsmiths the opportunity to submit lyrics for any genre. The competition is aimed at promoting excellence in the art of songwriting among writers, composers, bands, singer/songwriters and solo artists in an international forum. Entries are accepted from now through May 31, 2005.

The 2004 Competition top winner went to Patrice Pike, the singer-songwriter behind the Rock/Alternative group Sister Seven, from Austin, TX. "My Three Wishes" was the winning song written by Patrice Pike, Wayne Sutton, Sean Phillips and Darrell Phillips.

"We are ecstatic to win the competition. As a group, it emphasizes once again the credibility of our work as Sister Seven; and as individual songwriters (it emphasizes) our solo efforts apart from each other." said Patrice Pike.

USA Songwriting Competition will also be sponsoring a showcase at Borders Books & Music during the prestigious South by South-West Music Festival (SXSW) in Austin, (Location: 10225 Research Rd, Austin, TX) on Friday, March 18 '04, 8pm to 10pm featuring 2004 Top winner Patrice Pike.
