San Francisco's Django Mack Presents "100 Page Tattoo"
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Django Mack's newest six-song EP "100 Page Tattoo" is a blues-meets-Americana release if there ever was one. With this, their fourth CD, Django Mack delivers deep, earthy vocals and captivating musical arrangements from the first note to the very last. Django weaves between rhythmic prose and more traditional song styles, creating an intriguing partnership of contemporary lyrics within a rich musical tapestry.

Django Mack is a bit reminiscent perhaps of an early Tom Waits, with similar narrative inclinations that hold an audience in rapt anticipation, but then again you will find Django Mack ever so different at the very same time. For example, track five is a song about the world famous, powerhouse American automobile, the "Roadrunner" and how this pony car remains the apple of the owner's eye.
The lyrics entertain as the love story unfolds, while the syncopated beat features an outstanding tenor sax.
Another example - in track two, "Lookout", the band rocks hard as trumpets punctuate a story of back-country hijinks, along with a driving bass line, a soft background vocal presence, and a coolly suggestive lead guitar.
There's much more to it than space here permits: be sure to listen to "Rooster In The Hen House" as the songwriter's skills definitely shine on this track as well. It's clearly a powerhouse band, with deft drum and keyboard contributions, yet it is executed with a clear purpose and never, not once, does the band overpower the vocal presence. Well done.
