SYDNEY, Asutralia (Sony Music Asutralia) - John Mayer had double the reason to celebrate at the 47th Grammys in LA last night, taking out both the highly prestigious 'Song Of The Year' AND Best Male Pop Vocal Performance Award for 'Daughters'. Expect to see the single out here on March 13... US singer/songwriter John Mayer is celebrating BIG TIME today, after scoring the coveted Song Of The Year for 'Daughters' at the 47th annual Grammy Awards ceremony in LA last night. The 'Oscars' of the music world, Mayer (the sole writer of the track) was the odds on fave to take out the highly presitigious Song Of The Year gong in the lead-up to the awards, despite being pitted against some extremely tough competition from the likes of Kanye West, Tim McGraw, Alicia Keys and Hoobastank. But it wasn't the only win for guitar pop genius Mayer and 'Daughters' last night - he also took out the Best Male Pop Vocal Performance Award for the song, adding to his 2002 Grammy in the same category for the track 'Your Body Is A Wonderland'. Currently burning up at radio around the country and globe (it was the #1 most added at US A/C radio last week), the poignant and beautifully sparse 'Daughters' is the third single to be lifted from Mayer's second multi-platinum album 'Heavier Things' and will be officially released as a single in Australia on March 13.
