NEW YORK (Universal Motown Records Group) - 3 Doors Down take the top spot in the country first week out with their new album Seventeen Days (Republic/Universal), selling over 200,000 copies and entering at No 1 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart.

Released February 8, Seventeen Days is the Mississippi rock band's third studio album and their first number one album debut. No strangers to the top of the charts, 3 Doors Down have sold over 12 million albums with their previous releases, The Better Life (2000) and Away From The Sun (2002), which made its Billboard album chart debut at No 8. They have written six No 1 hit singles: "Here Without You", "When I'm Gone", "Be Like That", "Loser", "Duck and Run" and "Kryptonite."

"We're happy," said lead singer Brad Arnold when notified of the news in Dallas this morning, "It's very exciting and we're especially thankful to our fans for their support. We were tentative on how people would react because we put our hearts into this one- and now our fans are saying they love this record and that feels great-that's all we care about."

Recorded in Nashville with producer Johnny K (Finger 11, Disturbed), Seventeen Days features twelve tracks including the first single "Let Me Go" which is already Top 5 at rock radio; "Landing In London" featuring Bob Seger; the coming of age narrative "Be Somebody"; the tender ballad "Here by Me"; along with harder edge cuts "Right Where I Belong" and "The Real Life." Their new video for the first single "Let Me Go" features Jesse Metcalfe (Desperate Housewives) and Jodi Lyn O'Keefe (Boston Legal).

Billboard Magazine (2/8/05) says "even with a healthy respect for heritage, 3 Doors Down is a thoroughly modern American band -and a damn good one," while Associated Press (2/11/05) says, "hard rocking riffs and sensitive lyrics...with it's third album, Seventeen Days, the band has blown away most of its competition."

Seventeen Days has already shipped platinum in its first week and shows growth and maturity in both musicianship and songwriting-a cohesive flow of energy from a band that has known each other since childhood and has worked to strengthen those bonds, while bringing each other's individual and unique perspectives into the mix.

After a week of promotional appearances in New York, including a performance on The Late Show with David Letterman (2/8/05), 3 Doors Down began their world tour on Saturday, February 12th at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona, Florida during the 27th Annual Budweiser Shootout. Part of the band's performance together with Arnold's singing of the national anthem aired live on Fox TV (2/12/05). The band has dates across the US and performs on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno (March 2) before heading off to Europe, Australia and Guam.
