New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Inspired by a world on the brink, multi-Grammy Award winning soul singer Maxwell releases "The Glass House," a chilling music short-film set to his reflective new song "We Never Saw It Coming." Starring Maxwell himself and activist/actress/model Yomi Abiola, the visual features Maxwell's first new music since 2016's blackSUMMERS'night.
The new song and foreboding short-film were released to coincide with the nuclear summit between the US and North Korea, which was held in Singapore. "We've never been so divided," Maxwell sings as he looks out at the sprawling skyline of Los Angeles.

"As an artist I feel a responsibility to entertain as well as inform," Maxwell says of the song and short-film. "In the words of the great Nina Simone, 'it is the duty of the artist to reflect the times.' If we are to leave the world better than we found it, we all have to come together, unified in love, for our fellow man and this beautiful planet that we all call home."

"The Glass House" was written and directed by JAY-Z collaborators Gerard Bush and Christopher Renz (Bush + Renz). "We Never Saw It Coming" (Sony Music) was written by Maxwell and is available as an audio track at all DSPs here: https://smarturl.it/theglasshouse

"A planet on the precipice brings us to this moment; global unrest and uncertainty plagues America with a palpable level of anxiety," say Bush + Renz. "As artists and storytellers, we have a responsibility to raise our voices to alert and activate people out of complacency. The Glass House serves as a sobering wake up call that hopefully we all have the courage and determination to answer... before it's too late."
