Clash Mag, Paste Mag, EDM Boutique, FGUK and prominent youtube channels such as All Things Trap and Zeno-Chan (The latter gaining him nearly 60,000 streams). Born from the slums of upscale suburbia Tennessee, Sam Alan began his childhood without much of a chance. Straight from a loving family of 6, he always felt insufficient and almost looked over. Sam became depressed early on in life because his three brothers always kicked his ass on Xbox. Ultimately getting the best of himself, Sam never learned that life was meant to be enjoyed - thus leading him to live vicariously through the alter-ego known as DRUGZZ, and he encompasses on this notion by commenting: "I spent the last 6 years of my life starting and running a fresh salsa company called Uncle Kragers. I was working 70 hours in a kitchen chopping fucking cilantro while all my friends were outside going on vacations and playing sold out shows. Our company did very well, but I ended up hating my life. Inspiration comes in many ways - sometimes through cilantro stained hands."
A collector of vintage drum gear, DRUGZZ is inspired by rhythm, and sitting in front of a drum-set is crucial for his writing process. He used an old Rogers drum-set to make samples for the record, adding in the swirling synth sounds of the innovative Moog Sub Phatty. Citing influences such as Blink-182, The Chemical Brothers, Moby or ODESZA, DRUGZZ' sound has been likened to as a crossover between Louis The Child and
Simple Plan.
KRONO's vivacious, and bubbling remix of DRUGZZ's "Someone Other Than Me" sets the tone with jolting percussive beats and tambourine shakes, arcade-esque synthesizers and of course Sam's bitter, or biting vocal delivery encompassing on the track's unique and confrontational nature. However, French producer KRONO uses this angst to his advantage, and flips it dance-floor ready for immersive light shows, sweaty nightclubs and elevated night-chasers, comparative to values constructed by like-minded producer such as Sam Feldt,
Tom Odell or Kygo.
"Someone Other Than Me" was produced by Cole Johnson and mastered by Nic Signer.
