New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Could the power of Calvin Harris and Sam Smith oust George Ezra from No 1? The pair's new collaboration Promises is taking on Shotgun for the top spot on this week's UK Singles Chart.
As of today's UK Chart Update, Promises is behind Shotgun by just 196 combined sales, up two places from last week to No 2. If they manage to go all the way to the top, it'll add to both of their already impressive tally of No 1s - Calvin currently has nine and Sam has six.

Benny Blanco's Eastside ft. Halsey & Khalid isn't far behind either - just over 1,000 combined sales behind Calvin and Sam at No 3.

Elsewhere, Chicago rapper Juice Wrld is on course to enter the Top 10 with breakthrough hit Lucid Dreams, up one place to 10, and Jess Glynne's latest track All I Am continues to scale the Top 40, so far up four places to 12.

South Korean boy band sensation BTS are looking very likely to score their first UK Top 40 single with Idol, currently at No 13, boosted by its record-breaking views in 24 hours plus a new remix featuring Nicki Minaj.

Further down, Lithuanian DJ Dynoro & Gigi D'Agostino zoom 21 places to 15 with In My Mind, and Marshmello & Bastille's Happier lifts nine spots to 22.

After six weeks of climbing the Top 100, singer-songwriter Freya Ridings could break the Top 40 this Friday with Lost Without You, currently up five places to 38. The track first entered the UK Chart in July following its play on ITV's Love Island.

Viral sensation Baby Shark is snapping its way up the midweek UK Singles Chart and is set to be this week's biggest climber, currently up 36 places to No 29 at the halfway stage of the week.
The song, by Korean YouTube cartoon Pinkfong, first took off back in 2014 in Indonesia, but Baby Shark has now swam across the world's oceans and, with over 1.5 billion YouTube views, is in the Top 40 most-viewed videos ever.
The track is currently taking over the internet thanks to it being both ridiculously catchy and the subject of a new dance craze. The #BabySharkChallenge hashtag has seen people across the world giving their best interpretations of the fishy dance.
