BURBANK, CA. (Warner Bros.) - Missy is currently enjoying a #1 multiplatinum-selling album in Australia with her debut - "The Sound Of White." The disc was recorded in L.A. earlier this year with producer John Porter (Ryan Adams, The Smiths, Los Lonely Boys) and mixed by Jay Newland (Norah Jones). In recent months the Melbourne-based 21-year-old has toured her homeland as a special guest of local legends like John Butler Trio, The Finn Brothers and The Waifs. Her memorable voice and evocative lyrics have drawn comparisons to the likes of Joni Mitchell and Tori Amos and caused the local edition of Rolling Stone to place her on their cover and name her their "Artist Of The Year." On this side of the Pacific, "Interview" Magazine recently picked Missy Higgins as one of their "15 Faces To Watch" in 2005, and keen KCRW listeners may recall hearing her live tracks from in rotation on the station about two years ago. That airplay quickly led to a local deal with Warner Bros. Records but instead of rushing in and making an album the young singer decided to go backpacking around Europe for 12 months before eventually entering the recording studio. Missy's US debut EP "All For Believing" is out now. "The Sound Of White" will be released Stateside on May 24. www.missyhiggins.com
