Take 6 To Perform At Blue Note In NYC And Open Billy Crystal Tribute
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) After an extraordinarily successful year with the release of their #1 Billboard Contemporary Jazz album ICONIC and a world tour, Take 6 is capping off the year on a high note with four nights at the Blue Note in NYC (Nov. 8-11), a Friar's Club Billy Crystal tribute on November 12 at the Ziegfield Ballroom which they will be opening (additional performers/attendees include Bette Midler, Robert DeNiro, Alec Baldwin, Katie Couric, Meg Ryan, Martin Scorcese, to name a few) and a Christmas special they participated in with BeBe Winans and Cece Winans, Anthony Hamilton, and others. "The Soul & Spirit of Christmas" will air on GetTV on November 23 at 8pm EST. They will end the year with additional tour dates in Europe (dates below.)

Their most recent album, ICONIC, is composed of songs the sextet loves to perform both on stage and for the pure joy of lending their voices to songs that have a special meaning to them. This is the sixteenth album over their four decade career. These eclectic tunes pay tribute to both the music and the artists that made them famous, from a fun and vocally significant cover of Justin Timberlake's Can't Stop the Feeling, a unique and harmonic interpretation of Christopher Cross' Sailing, Mark's melodic and memorable vocal on Norah Jones' Don't Know Why to a jazz cover that the Beatles would surely be pleased with of Got To Get You Into My Life. They pay homage to their friend Al Jarreau, with their rendition of Roof Garden, and are true to their gospel roots with the hymn Nothing But the Blood. Change The World (Eric Clapton) was the most-added tune in Smooth Jazz upon its release. Clearly, the CD crosses most musical genres, for which Take 6 has always been known.
