Christmas Tunes The Doo Wop Project Returns To Albuquerque
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) With rich vocal harmonies and a steady beat, The Doo Wop Project Christmastakes audiences on a musical journey through the '50s and '60s at Popejoy Hall on Friday, December 21, 2018 at 7 pm. Not only does the New York-based acappella group perform classic doo-wop songs and reinterpret pop hits, they also sing Christmas favorites in doo-wop style. Enjoy a celebration of one of the most iconic American musical styles and a touch of holiday flair with The Doo Wop Project Christmas.

The Doo Wop Project Christmas performs classic songs like "Since I Don't Have You" by The Skyliners, "Denise" by Randy & The Rainbows, doo-wop interpretations of Michael Jackson's "The Way You Make Me Feel" and other pop classics, in addition to renditions of holiday favorites. Former stars of the Broadway musicals Jersey Boys and Motown The Musical make up this five-man doo wop troupe. The troupe exemplifies the sound and substance that made doo wop an American staple for so many years.

Doo wop gained popularity in barbershops and on street corners during the early 1950s, before becoming a mainstream genre. Its swing rhythm, harmonies, and catchy melodies inspired both rock 'n' roll and R&B. The Doo Wop Project Christmas pays homage to this great American music tradition that continues to influence artists today.
