NEW YORK (Gatsby Music/ www.tomalexandermusic.com) - Gatsby Music is pleased to announce something truly special from the newest member of its roster of artists. Veteran Keyboardist/Composer Tom Alexander takes you a on musical journey spanning the globe!

East meets West in a fusion of jazz, rock and world music on the brand new release, FLYING AGAINST THE TIME ZONES.

On his piano and keyboards, Tom fronts varied line-ups of musicians whose musical roots span from China to Greece and Armenia to the Caribbean. Here you'll find inventive melodies, burning rhythms, and global textures. The unexpected twists, turns and side roads you'll travel propel FLYING AGAINST THE TIME ZONES.

Depart from the Pacific Northwest onto South America. Soar across the Pacific to Asia. Then, its Africa. Take a train ride through Europe before settling in for a journey back to America.

With groups like Aphelion, World Is, and Earth Conference, Tom Alexander cultivated a global fusion sound over a twenty year period. Then in 2001, he released a solo piano CD called 'What's Ahead?' which fused jazz harmonies with memorable melodic passages and striking solos. AMG praised the recording and NPR broadcast a 20 minute feature heard across the country featuring selections from the recording and an interview with the artist.

Since that time, Tom has been busy writing new compositions for a series of recordings he plans on making with a core group of musicians whom he refers to as his musical family. The first being his debut release for the Gatsby Music label. It's a recording you really need to hear…a musical trip around the world where no passport is needed.
