New Christian Pop Artist, Alva, Releases Debut Singles 'Closer Now'

New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Based out of Charlotte, NC, Lynsea & Derek Schurbon make up the new husband-and-wife duo Alva. Their debut studio project, 'Closer Now', is comprised of 3 electronic pop songs set to release February 1, 2019. Co-written together and produced by Derek in their in-home studio, this project shares a sound that is not only unique to them but also to the Christian genre. Alva is passionate about bringing a new sound to the worship music world and bridging the gap between Christian and secular music.

"We want this to be a project that anyone can listen to without the label of 'Christian' or 'Pop'," Derek Schurbon says. "Just really good music with a really good message."

Alva, an emerging, husband-and-wife, Christian pop duo, released their debut project, 'Closer Now', today, Feb. 1, 2019. The project, which features three electronic pop singles, is themed around God's loyal, unchanging love.

The duo, Lynsea and Derek Schurbon, wrote the songs as a reminder that no matter our journey, and despite our understanding, God's love never leaves. Lyrics like, "When I am weak / When I don't even feel You / Remind me that you're closer now than ever" were written as declarations for the moments when God feels distant. Alva is passionate about bringing a new sound to the worship music world and bridging the gap between Christian and secular music.

Previously, the Schurbons have released solo projects as artists, Eames and Lewis. They both studied at Berklee College of Music and have worked in the production and music business worlds separately, until now. 'Closer Now' was co-written by the duo, produced by Derek Schurbon in their in-home studio, and will be released independently by DAS Music, LLC.
