Music producer-writer
Daniel Tashian takes home an Album of the Year award at the 61st GRAMMY Awards for his work on Kacey Musgraves' 'Golden Hour.' Tashian co-wrote seven of 13 songs on 'Golden Hour' and produced the record with Ian Fitchuk. The Album of the Year GRAMMY is awarded to producers and songwriters, as well as the artist.
'Golden Hour' also received a GRAMMY for Best Country Album. The GRAMMY wins — and nominations — are the first for Tashian, who has been a Big Yellow Dog
Music writer since 2009.
The 52nd Annual Country
Music Association Awards also named 'Golden Hour' its Album of the Year, an honor shared by Musgraves, Fitchuk and Tashian. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Country Albums Chart and No. 4 on the Billboard 200. It recently topped the Village Voice's annual Pazz & Jop critics poll this year and also appeared at the top of best-of-2018 lists by People, Entertainment Weekly, American Songwriter, Stereogum, Taste of Country, Uproxx and Apple.
A diverse songwriter and producer who has a knack for helping artists develop their sound, Tashian also is the lead singer of The
Silver Seas, which has released several critically acclaimed albums in the US and UK. He co-wrote the No. 1 song "Hometown Girl" for
Josh Turner (2017) and also has earned cuts with Billy Currington, Martina McBride, Charles Kelley,
Lee Ann Womack and Tenille Townes. He has had sync placements in hit TV shows and movies including the film 'Our Idiot Brother,' 'Pretty
Little Liars' and 'Nashville.'
Tashian and Fitchuk produced 'Canterbury Girls,' the upcoming album from sister duo Lily & Madeleine, out Feb. 22 via New West Records. On May 3, Tashian will release 'I Love Rainy Days,' a children's album for which he has written and produced all the music, as well as painted pieces for all album and single art associated with the release.
