CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA. (SONY BMG) - Dave Matthews Band has nearly completed work on a brand-new studio album entitled Stand Up and have set a release date for May 10, 2005. The album will be released on RCA Records.

On Stand Up, the band worked with producer Mark Batson who is notable for his work with an eclectic array of artists such as Eminem, 50 Cent, Talib Kweli and India Arie.

'Mark is an incredible musician and composer in his own right,' said Dave Matthews. 'Making this album was an unbelievable experience for everyone in the band.'

'This is one of the best experiences ever we've had in the studio,' said Stefan Lessard. 'Things happened so organically and I think we've really captured the essence of what makes us gel so well as a band.'

Tracks on the album include the first single 'American Baby,' birthed from a Boyd Tinsley violin riff, 'Dream Girl,' with an intricate vocal harmony arrangement at the opening and 'Smooth Rider,' a down tempo groove anchored by Lessard and drummer Carter Beauford. 'Stolen Away' features an inspired musical motif played by saxophonist LeRoi Moore.

'Mark managed to single each one of us out in a way that is aggressive and confident,' said Matthews.

To chronicle the making of the new record, their first studio album since 2002's Busted Stuff, the band launched a website dedicated to the project. On the website (www.dmbnewstudioalbum.com) fans can see taped interviews with band members and Mark Batson. The website is a bird's eye view into the making of the new album and has been regularly updated with new video and audio clips.

'Never before have our cameras been allowed to document the creative process of the making of a Dave Matthews Band album in such an intimate way,' said DMB Lighting Designer/Video Director Fenton Williams. 'This website gives us a chance to film a side of the band never seen before. We have captured some amazing moments.'

The band is currently making preparations to play a string of dates in Australia at the end of March and have committed to playing two stateside festivals – The Bonnaroo Music Festival (June 10-12) and the New Orleans Jazz Fest on Saturday, April 30. On June 1st DMB will embark on a lengthy summer tour playing nearly 50 dates across the United States.
