New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Iconic pop pioneer
Charli XCX has reunited with global pop sensation
Troye Sivan on latest track 2099, and its exhilarating music video. 2099 is the duos first collaboration since their hit single 1999, and the latest single taken from XCX's new album Charli - released Friday 13th September.
The Bradley &
Pablo directed music video sees the British pop trailblazer and her recurring heart-throb collaborator
Troye Sivan effortlessly driving into future times together on jet skis. In contrast to 1999's nostalgic gaze at the past, the 2099 video is a cinematic embodiment of the track's futuristic sound.
"This is the best video ever. I'm so happy I made it. Troye and I are so talented. Thank you to Bradley and
Pablo for directing and also to Troye, who trained so hard for the shoot. Enjoy." - Charli XCX
The release of 2099 follows Charli XCX's announcement of her tour Charli LIVE which opens
September 20th for an impressive 43 dates across both sides of the Atlantic, including a sold-out show at London's O2 Brixton Academy for a momentous October 31st Halloween show.
The art of collaboration is at the heart of the album, a verified saviour of pop, Charli seamlessly binds musical genres from the vast pop spectrum. With Executive Production by
Charli XCX and A. G. Cook, collaborators include Lizzo, Christine and the Queens, Haim, Troye Sivan, Brooke Candy, CupcakKe, Big Freedia, Sky Ferreira,
Clairo and Yaeji. Charli teamed up with AR makeup artist Ines Alpha to design her artworks with a goal of dismantling classic beauty ideals, a pairing which resulted in her striking album cover.
Charli released
September 13th 2019 via Asylum Records.
