LOS ANGELES (Capitol Records) - "Suit Yourself Live," an hour-long concert performance by Grammy winner Shelby Lynne, will premiere June 3rd as a feature in DIRECTV's FREEVIEW event series. Shot by Bennett Productions and 5.1 Entertainment Group in front of a live audience at the historic Hollywood Center Studios in Hollywood, CA, the concert has the same kind of off-the-cuff intimacy as Lynne's new album, Suit Yourself, the follow-up to her highly acclaimed 2003 release, Identity Crisis.
This exclusive DIRECTV FREEVIEW broadcast will be followed by a 15-minute film about the making of Suit Yourself, which follows Lynne from her home studio in Palm Springs to Nashville, where she recorded the record in the home of her engineer/bass player, Brian "Brain" Harrison, and back to the West Coast, where the album was mixed and mastered. Fans can check out the short film - and four tracks from the upcoming album - at www.shelbylynne.com/sampler.

Backed by most of the band members who appear on the album - The Wallflowers' Michael Ward on guitar, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers' Benmont Tench on keyboards, Bryan Owings on drums/percussion and Brian "Brain" Harrison on bass - Lynne performs eight songs from Suit Yourself in the special, as well as several older tunes.

"Suit Yourself Live" will air on weekends throughout the month of June on DIRECTV's Channel 124 beginning Friday, June 3rd. (Check your DIRECTV program guide for times.) Capitol and DIRECTV will also include a special purchase offer to DIRECTV customers for Lynne's new album following each airing of the special. Suit Yourself, which will be released May 24th, has already been eliciting rave reviews:

"Lyrically and vocally, Lynne continues to project a tough-as-nails exterior while offering up glimpses of the softness beneath the surface. It's that balance, exquisitely negotiated, that gives her songs much of their power," said Performing Songwriter while Interview noted: "From the celebratory grooves of 'Go With It' to the impressionistic slow-cooker blues of the seven-minute-long closer 'Track 12,' Suit Yourself is organic and quietly powerful.
Whether Lynne's singing about a broken heart on the exquisitely dreamy 'I Cry Everyday' or basking in love as comforting as 'cornbread and iced tea' on the stripped-down, shuffling 'Iced Tea,' she has never sounded more at ease in her own skin."

"DIRECTV is consistently looking for ways to offer exclusive, first-run programming that will enhance customer value," said Dan Fawcett, executive vice president, Programming Acquisitions, DIRECTV, Inc. "Shelby Lynne is an accomplished Grammy winning artist and she's turned in a virtuoso performance. We know this FREEVIEW event will be extremely well received by our more than 14.4 million customers nationwide."
