National Television Debut on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, May 10th
Island recording group Fall Out Boy's major label debut album FROM UNDER THE CORK TREE (5 stars Alternative Press), in-stores May 3rd, detonates the Soundscan chart with first week sales of close to 68,000 units to enter the Billboard 200 albums chart at No 9. Prior to its release, the album was named Tower Records' No 1 online pre-sale title of all time, besting Depeche Mode, A Perfect Circle, Train, and others. To celebrate their success, Fall Out Boy - named one of the "10 Artists To Watch" by Rolling Stone - made their national television debut last night, May 10th, on NBC's Late Night with Conan O'Brien.

FROM UNDER THE CORK TREE was produced, recorded and mixed by Neal Avron (New Found Glory, Everclear, Wallflowers). The first single, "Sugar, We're Goin' Down" (mixed by Tom Lord-Alge), is one of the highlights on the album that includes such catchy titles as "Nobody Puts Baby In the Corner," "A Little Less Sixteen Candles, A Little More 'Touch Me'," "Sophomore Slump Or Comeback Of the Year," "I've Got a Dark Alley And A Bad Idea That Says You Should Shut Your Mouth," and the album's showpiece, "I Slept With Someone In Fall Out Boy And All I Got Was This Stupid Song Written About Me."
The cable network Fuse has been influential in Fall Out Boy's success. The Fuse show "Seventh Avenue Drop" has aired multiple times since its premiere on April 26th. MTV has also shown its support of Fall Out Boy through MTVU and MTV2. Yesterday MTV2 "Unleashed" the video for "Sugar We're Goin' Down" with an all day video premiere.
The new album follows-up Fall Out Boy's 2003 release, Take This To Your Grave on the Florida-based indie label Fueled By Ramen. That CD has sold over 200,000 copies to date and yielded back-to-back No 1's on FUSE's Ovenfresh, "Dead On Arrival" and "Saturday." In the process of becoming an industry phenom, the album held the No 1 spot on the influential AP Reader's Chart for months. The magazine subsequently voted Fall Out Boy the No 2 most under-rated band of 2003, and one of "100 Bands You Need To Know For 2004," before putting them on the cover of last August's issue.
In addition to marking the release of FROM UNDER THE CORK TREE, last week also marked the end of Fall Out Boy's sold-out headlining tour with Gym Class Heroes and The Academy Is... (The 8-week, 42-city marathon cross-country tour also featured Midtown and Silverstein on select dates.) After a well-earned break, Fall Out Boy joins this year's Vans Warped Tour as a headliner, starting June 18th at the Germain Amphitheatre in Columbus, Ohio. The 49-city North American itinerary concludes 2 months later in Northampton, Mass., at Three County Fairgrounds. (Please see tour dates attached.)
Straight from Chicago's North Shore, Fall Out Boy - Patrick Stump (vocals/guitar), Pete Wentz (bass), Joe Trohman (guitar), and Andy Hurley (drums) - "captures the very essence of what every teenage boy wants to be and every teenage girl wants to know," wrote the New York Daily News, "combining bitterly sarcastic lyrics with elements of rock, punk and hardcore."
