TRONDHEIM, Norway (AP) - Garbage drummer Butch Vig has been diagnosed with Hepatitis A and will sit out the band's upcoming European tour, scheduled to begin Friday (Nov. 2) in Trondheim, Norway. Drummer Matt Chamberlain (Tori Amos, Fiona Apple), who played on some tracks on the band's latest effort, Beautifulgarbage, will fill in for Vig on the tour. "[Vig] is on the road to a complete recovery, getting the rest he needs, and would like to thank you all for your well wishes," reads a message on the band's official Web site . "However, under doctor's orders, he will be unable to play with the band during their upcoming European shows. The band do not want to disappoint their fans and after much deliberation decided not to cancel We look forward to seeing you all!" Garbage will be on tour in Europe through a Nov. 14 date at London's Astoria. After Christmas, the band heads to Australia, New Zealand, and Japan. Hepatitis A, an inflammation of the liver caused by the Hep A virus, is the mildest form of Hepatitis, transmitted through contact with contaminated food, water, or a person ill with the virus.
