LONDON, UK (SONY Music UK) - Following this years March/April sell out UK tour, The Raveonettes have released the first single from their forthcoming album 'Pretty In Black' - the follow up to 2003's 'Chain Gang Of Love'.

The 10' ltd edition 'Ode To LA' featuring the legendary Ronnie Spector on guest vocals was released on May 9th. The band are currently on a 6 week tour of the US which will include amongst others a live performance on the Letterman Show in NYC on Monday 13th June. 'Pretty In Black' was recorded in various New York studios and The Raveonettes are finally ready to unleash their new sound on fans and newcomers alike.

'Ode To LA', backed by a very special version of Hank Williams' 'I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry' gives hints of the new sonic flavour as the band's new Columbia Records album, 'Pretty In Black' is virtually fuzz-free, with stunning results. Wagner's deep affection for early rock & roll and girl-group bop comes through bright and clear and so do his glass-sheet harmonies with vocalist and co-founder Sharin Foo.

For the recording of this record The Raveonettes have drafted in musical heroes such as Suicide's Martin Rev, the Velvet Underground's Maureen Tucker (who liked the band so much she turned up on her 60th Birthday to record 5 tracks) and on 'Ode To LA' Queen Ronette, Ronnie Spector.
But where both the Raveonettes' 2002 EP 'Whip It On' and their 2003 debut 'Chain Gang of Love' were triumphs of uniform mood - black-rain guitars and taut programmed percussion, lined with modal vocal chrome - the new songs are a whirlwind of ravishing noir and vintage-pop echo. There are changes in the live line up too with the addition of bassist Anders Christensen, freeing up Foo to concentrate on singing and playing additional guitar.
