Aerosmith Axe More Shows

NEW YORK (AP) - Just over a week ago, Beantown bombers Aerosmith canceled a pair of shows in Toronto and Pittsburgh, claiming that vocalist Steven Tyler was road-weary and needed a brief break. They planned to resume the Just Push Play tour on Halloween in Montreal, and while they did indeed play the gig, they again petered out shortly after.
Still suffering from a sore throat, Tyler decided to rest his voice for a few nights, causing Aerosmith to nix a November 2 show at the Ervin J. Nutter Center in Dayton, Ohio, and postpone a November 4 hometown gig at the FleetCenter in Boston and a gig two days later at the Dunkin Donuts Civic Center in Providence, Rhode Island. The postponed shows will be rescheduled in the coming week, the band's publicist said.

Aerosmith plan to resume the tour on November 8 at the First Union Center in Philadelphia. The publicist said there's no reason for undue concern from fans, and called Tyler's decision to stay off the stage for a few days "precautionary." The publicist added that the singer hasn't lost his voice, he simply wants to recharge his batteries so Aerosmith can continue to tour through January. The band currently has dates scheduled through December 17.

Tyler has expressed some concern that the band's smoke machine, which was made for outdoor stadiums but was being used indoors, might have irritated his throat, the publicist said. Just to be safe, the band has switched to a more arena-friendly smoke device.
