BRENTWOOD, TN. (Sparrow Records) - Songwriter/artist-worshiper Matt Redman's best known work will be gathered on one disc for the first time when BLESSED BE YOUR NAME: SONGS OF MATT REDMAN VOL. 1 releases to stores July 19.
Seven of the twelve featured tracks are currently among the Top 200 songs on the CCLI chart, which monitors the performance of modern worship music in churches around the world. BLESSED BE YOUR NAME includes: "Blessed Be Your Name," "The Heart Of Worship," "Better Is One Day," "Let My Words Be Few," "Undignified," "Once Again," "Let Everything That Has Breath," "Holy Moment," "Lord, Let Your Glory Fall," "Facedown," "I Will Offer Up My Life," and "The Father's Song."
Matt's songs have been recorded by diverse artists ranging from Michael W. Smith to alternative rockers Kutless. In the past year alone, "Blessed Be Your Name" was recorded by Tree63, Rebecca St. James, and newsboys, and led to Redman winning the 2005 Dove Award for Worship Song of the Year.
About his first compilation, Matt says, "I can look back on the past few years of writing songs and see what God has been doing in my life . . . On top of that, when you've poured out your heart to God in a little room somewhere, and then one day you visit a church in another country and they're singing your song, it's a great encouragement because ultimately that's what the songs are for."
