NEW YORK (Billboard) - Severe throat pain suffered by Deftones lead singer Chino Moreno scotched the band's hometown appearance Sunday night in Sacramento, Calif. Doctors ordered the singer - who at one point was unable to speak - not to use his voice for 24 to 48 hours, and at deadline, were awaiting a series of test results. The Sacramento show, which will be rescheduled for later this year, was to be the fourth on the band's U.S. summer tour with Godsmack. The Deftones, who were scheduled to play San Francisco's Shoreline Amphitheatre Tuesday night, were hoping to continue on with the tour, according to a spokesperson. At deadline, the band was planning to play Tuesday night's show, although the spokesperson said the final decision was to be made later that day with regards to Moreno's condition. Moreno had to postpone two shows last fall for similar reasons.
