LOS ANGELES (Cool Water Records) - Comparisons to the folk-inflected jam rock of the
Dave Matthews Band, the new album "Doctor's Orders" is the work of fellow South African native Saul Kaye.
The San Francisco, CA-based Kaye formed his group in May 2004, electrifying stages throughout Northern and Southern California, Idaho, and Montana with an energetic and invigorating brew of blues, acoustic pop, and funk.
Released on Cool Water Records, "Doctor's Orders" is an album that encapsulates Kaye's keen sense of rhythm, drawing upon various stylistic influences to carve knife-sharp, memorable grooves atop lyrics that tell stories of the human condition. From the pointed political commentary of 'The News' to the moving tale of 'Boxing With Jim Beam,' Kaye's narratives reveal his observations about everyday life without being preachy or pretentious. 'I try to keep the messages couched in a very personal frame,' Kaye explained. 'A lot of [my songs] are character studies. It's easier to write about characters to make a point.
And now Kaye is on his way to the western United States.
