NASHVILLE, TN. (By Kissy Black/ Lotos Nile Media) - The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, the group that helped create the country-rock sound and exposed a generation of music fans to acoustic-based American roots music with the Will The Circle Be Unbroken projects, celebrates the Oct. 4 reissue of Acoustic on Capitol Records.

The self-produced Acoustic was the band's triumphant return to their early roots. 'We're really glad this project is available again,' says NGDB member Jeff Hanna. 'It's always been one of the band's favorites." Acoustic is highlighted by the band's own compositions including 'Cupid's Got A Gun,' a groove of a love song. Noted director Roger Pistole (Deana Carter, Junior Brown, Limp Bizkit) produced the video. Other standout tracks are the bluegrassy toe-tapper 'Sara In The Summer,' the wistful 'Let It Roll' and the quietly brooding 'Badlands.'

The album also features the original studio version of 'Bless The Broken Road,' (co-written by Hanna) which Rascal Flatts recently took to the top of the country singles chart for a multi-week stay at No. 1. 'Bless the Broken Road' is currently nominated for Single and Song of the Year by the Country Music Association, and it was nominated in the same categories earlier this year by The Academy of Country Music.

Acoustic is the most recent in a series of re-issues that began with the 30th Anniversary Edition of Will The Circle Be Unbroken, followed by the classic Uncle Charlie and His Dog Teddy, and its sequel project, Symphonion Dream.

These albums are testaments to the staying power of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. For almost 40 years, the NGDB have been making uniquely American music. Recognized for their seminal contributions to country-rock's roots, they continually craft songs that resonate with meaning.
