We are thrilled to announce that Philip Pirrone has been moved from the ICU unit to a normal hospital room. The doctors say that Phil will make a full recovery! ASL are NOT cancelling their tour. They will be doing all the dates that are scheduled. We will announce who will be filling in for Phil shortly. We thank you will all our hearts for your support!
As has been widely reported Phil Pirrone, bassist/vocalist for A Static Lullaby, was involved in a car accident late Wednesday night, Oct. 12, driving home from his parents' house. Details are still vague as the band's website has not yet been updated at this point, but ASL's publicist has been quoted as saying that Pirrone is currently in the Intensive Care Unit at his local hospital, but his doctors have said he's going to recover from his serious injuries and are hoping he will be released in the next couple of days.
ASL Writing New Record And Going Off Road
A message from A Static Lullaby to all of you:
"Hey everyone, it's Phil and the rest of the guys here. We'd like to say thank you and we love you, right here, right off the bat. You have been the lifeline of this band since the beginning, the only reason we can successfully tour is because you come to the shows and we fucking appreciate it so much. The only reason people want us to record records for their record company is because they think you will buy it and you do........We write songs and play them live because we couldn't imagine anything else fulfilling our souls the way making and playing those songs do. We wouldn't be able to do it if no one cared, and this is us saying THANK YOU FOR CARING. We just released a new record. We are very proud of this record. We went through a whole bunch of shit between the making of ...And Don't Forget To Breathe and the making of Faso Latido. Let me fill you in.
In October of 2002, we drove from our homes in California to New Jersey. We all got sick, Brett and I (Phil) did homework in our off time (we were still in school) and we recorded ADFTB in 13 days. We then continued to tour in a van, and kept touring and have been touring ever since. In August of 2003, our drummer, our friend, our brother, and one of the creative influences in the band, Brett Dinovo, left to pursue schooling and a life at home. Our buddy Ben, who is in A Thorn For Every Heart now was guitar teaching for us and filled in when Brett left. We acquired the drumming of Jarod Alexander shortly after returning home from our tour with Hot Water Music in November of 2003. Jarod toured with us after that and Jarod also played drums while we wrote Faso Latido and left unexpectedly during pre-production of Faso Latido. Sammy Seigler of Nightmare of You played drums on our record. Sammy is better known for his work in Glassjaw, Rival Schools, CIV, Guerilla Biscuits, Y! outh of Today and other great bands like that. Brett Dinovo remained a friend of the band and after hearing Faso Latido he decided that he could learn what he wanted to learn in school by reading books on the road and he was ready to tour again. Since Brett returned the band has been tighter than ever... on and off stage. Before his return the band was not doing their best live, and we apologize for that. We don't care what label were on, or what we fit in to or what people say, ever. We are a group of friends who have become family and love what we do and we love the fans that have embraced us. Even though there has been negative feedback on this new record, it doesn't phase us... We know that you can never please everyone. Plus, that was never our aim. We just try to be happy playing music and make others happy playing music.
We tour in an RV right now, we are playing small clubs on a headlining tour and the shows are going great. We are joining up with Sum 41 on May 17 to play shows up the east coast and into the Midwest and then we come to the west coast with them. We are playing radio shows in Richmond, Chicago, and other cities. In June we are traveling to the UK finally!!!! Funeral For A Friend, who are amazing dudes are taking us out there for what is sure to be an amazing trip! We can't wait to see all our English, Scottish, Irish, and Welsh fans. So again, from us here in ASL... Live Life, Love Life, Go to shows and let yourself go and take care of each other. And as always, We'll be in your city soon, so come say Hi."
