New York, NY (Top40 Charts) A Welsh Australian serenading you in French? Oui, c'est normal!
Introducing Ffredi's rakish alter-ego, L'ami de Jacques Renard. While he might enjoy red wine for breakfast and charming the ladies, he still has to do unstylish work on the computer... but at the end of the day he's satisfied with sorting out the books in his library, watching the birds and letting his beard grow.
This strange and groovy tune is a bit Dave Brubeck meets Serge Gainsbourg. It features awesome drumming from Sophie Wozencraft (The Deep Blue) and the sweet clarinet of Tom Deakin (Klezmonauts, The Bumtones), plus a truly surreal video directed by Welsh artistic powerhouse Izzy Rabey.
Ffredi's home-made debut The Dishwasher Tapes (2020) gained wide acclaim, with airplay and spoken segments on Cerys Matthews' BBC 6 Music show (singles 'Honolulu' and 'Dwwwi'), airplay from Adam Walton and the late, great Janice Long on Radio Wales, a live session with Rhys Mwyn on BBC Radio Cymru and the track Dwwwi coming in at #1 on the 2021 'Siart Amgen' (alternative chart).
