Sydney,AU (EMI MUSIC AUSTRALIA) -Musichead congratulate Missy Higgins on receiving an extraordinary 5 ARIA Awards in Sydney last night.

The 22 year old Melbournian walked away with the following gongs:
ALBUM OF THE YEAR
BEST FEMALE ARTIST
HIGHEST SELLING ALBUM
BEST POP RELEASE
BREAKTHROUGH ARTIST ALBUM

These prizes will go on her mantelpiece next to the 'Breakthrough Single' award she won 12 months ago for her single 'Scar'.

'I'm so grateful to everybody who voted – it was an amazing night', said Missy who also performed the title track from her album during the telecast. 'I can remember watching the ARIA's when I was still at school and it never occurred to me that I'd even get to go to them – let alone that I'd be one of the people getting up and trying to make an acceptance speech! I think it will take a few months for it all to sink in.'

48 hours before the ARIA's, Missy returned to the tiny Vanguard club in Sydney's inner west where she played several pivotal shows long before her album was released. The intimate gig generated over $25,000 for a small charity called One In Five who help raise funds for mental health research. Recordings of this special acoustic performance are being sold online from today to raise further funds for the charity. To obtain these exclusive recordings please visit www.bigpondmusic.com

The benefit show and the ARIA awards ceremony both came in the middle of a hugely successful national concert tour for Missy. Recent outdoor shows in Darwin, Adelaide, Perth and Hobart all sold out with crowds of 6,000-8,000 people per night.

Next weekend Missy will perform a sold out concert in Brisbane as well as even bigger dates at Sydney's Centennial Park on Friday 28th and Melbourne's Myer Music Bowl on Cup Eve. Limited tickets remain for these two special concerts under the stars. Special guests for all dates include fellow ARIA winner, Ben Lee and acclaimed US singer/songwriter, Ray Lamontagne. Further details for all shows are below.

To cap off an extraordinary month Missy's acclaimed album is just about to be certified 8 times platinum for sales in excess of 560,000 copies in Australia. Her brand new DVD 'If You Tell Me Yours I'll Tell You Mine' was recently certified platinum.
CONGRATULATIONS Missy!!!
