NEW YORK (www.raptivism.com) - Oakland emcee Deuce Eclipse, known for his collaborations & touring with Bay area homies Zion I- as well as being the first emcee to represent Nicaragua has released his debut nationally distributed album "Radio Plantation" through Raptivism Records this Oct.10th.
On "Radio Plantation" Deuce Eclipse- who is known for his long trademark braids- was driven to express his personal freedom through music. "We are all blessed with our own style and I just want to voice mine. I know it has something important to say." Deuce tries to create an open universal sound which he describes as "Oywalk Music." He says:"It (hip-hop) was there for me when nothing else was. It showed me how to express the dreams that I had. Not only was it a culture, it was also survival skills. I was able to hone in my resources and create something from nothing. I am influenced by all of the music created by us in this country as well as the latino music I was raised on. I'm always trying to make something new but the foundation comes from that root." Radio Plantation is a mix of lyricism, musicality and the mellow vibes that Deuce Eclipse has become known for on the Bay Area rap scene.
Radio Plantation is produced exclusively by Soleil and features guest appearances by fellow Zion I crew member DUST.
Deuce Eclipse Bio
Deuce Eclipse began rapping, dancing, and beatboxing at the age of ten and has not stopped since. He was the first of his generation born in the United States of Nicaraguan parents. His father was a musician who raised his family with singing and guitar playing, which would open the doors for Deuce to apply his own talent for singing to his music. As a rapper he learned to use his skills to speak about the society in which he was native to. Using his rhymes to tell stories and create images of where we are as a people, and adding rhythms to dance and feel good to.
Deuce grew up with Zion of Zion I, and has cultivated thier artistic collaborations over the years. Deuce Eclipse has appeared on the classic albums "Deep Water Slang"(Raptivism), "Curb Servin'" (Raptivism) and toured with the Cali Comm 2004, appearing on the Cali Comm 2004 album. DeuceEclipse has performed over 300 times in the last two years, in places as far away as Japan, Germany and France. Now it is time for Deuce to be heard on his own terms
Spanish was his first language and being bi-cultural he uses the language in some of his music. "I try to reach out to those of us in this country who cannot speak English as well as to the masses of my people in Spanish speaking countries. There is a lot of culture that surrounds us here and it is something beautiful that should be shared." When asked what his goal is he responds, "Open creativity."
It's that "Open creativity" that empowers Deuce's lyrics to connect life and its nuances with the people. "Music has always been with me. As I change it changes. I learned how to grasp the idea of songwriting through rapping, watching, and feeling. Using it to speak of the things I go through or see, things people have taught me or showed me in my life. I just try to express what is around me and inside of myself. Nurture that piece of myself that is for the world."
