New York, NY (Top40 Charts) On 19 September, 35 years to the day since the original release of her second album 'Watermark'. Following the release of her self-titled debut album in 1986, 'Watermark' became a huge commercial success that saw Enya become a global star. Much like her debut album, 'Watermark' was seen as genre defying, its unique sound meant it couldn't be pigeon holed, but despite those usual challenges (that make commercial success so difficult), it soon caught the imagination of many around the world.
Now certified four times platinum in the UK, the album's lead single 'Orinoco Flow' found chart success all over the world spending three weeks at number one in the UK. The track's success put the album on the map.
Upon the year of its release it received two Grammy nominations and critical acclaim from the likes of NME (9/10), Hotpress (11/12) and Rolling Stone (⅘). Newspapers across the US also praised the release of the record, often calling out its beauty and ambient sounds. 'Watermark' has since gone on to be streamed almost 7 billion times and Enya remains one of the most unique and instantly recognisable artists of all time.
