September 15 Netflix released, the track "Why We Had To Leave" from REPTILE (Soundtrack From The Netflix Film) with music by composer Yair Elazar Glotman featuring vocals from ARCA. The single releases ahead of the full 20-track album which will be available
September 29, on all digital platforms.
Composer of the score, Yair Elazar Glotman embarked on a unique creative journey while crafting the music for Reptile. Collaborating closely with director Grant Singer, Yair embraced a visceral and textural approach to film noir, deviating from the conventional thematic material. In a thrilling twist, Yair's collaboration with the renowned artist Arca introduced vocal elements into the score, weaving a narrative thread that leaves audiences intrigued and engaged.
Glotman speaks on the score - "The process of working on Reptile was unlike anything I experienced before. It is a contemporary take on film noir, and the whole film is imbued with a sense of darkness, ambiguity and deception. Collaborating with the director Grant Singer on his first feature film was immensely special as he had a very wide array of musical references and we were able to geek out a lot about historical and contemporary bands, from obscure composers to film scores and of course the pop stars he has worked with. The result I think is something that can lead you in, thinking that this is a regular thriller soundtrack, only to turn the corner and surprise you with something darker or more abstract than expected."
Following the brutal murder of a young real estate agent, a hardened detective attempts to uncover the truth in a case where nothing is as it seems, and by doing so dismantles the illusions in his own life.

Yair Elazar Glotman is a film composer and a musician based in Berlin.
Glotman trained as an orchestral contrabass player and in electroacoustic composition. His current focus is in film composition, where he has collaborated on two Oscar-winning soundtracks ("
Joker" and "All Quiet on the Western Front"). Most recently, he scored the Netflix production "Reptile" (2023) starring Benicio del Toro. His work on the film as well as his independent musical releases are informed by both classical and electroacoustic traditions, and employ a range of improvisation, extended contrabass techniques, and a special interest in textural and spatial compositions in combining analog and digital processing.
Glotman's compositions for film and media began through his close work with the influential, late composer Jóhann Jóhannsson, most notably writing additional music for "
Mandy" (2018) and co-composing "Last and First Men" (2020). He scored the A24 production "False Positive" together with cellist Lucy Railton (2021). In addition, he has worked with composers Hildur Guðnadóttir, Volker Bertelmann (Hauschka), Ben Frost, Chris Clark, Geoff Barrow & Ben Salisbury,
Dustin O'Halloran, and others. In addition to film and TV, he has composed for dance performances and Opera, most notably designing the
Soundtrack for the Royal Opera House in London production of "Mamzer" (2018) by Na'ama Zisser.
Alongside his work for film and media, Glotman regularly releases and performs his own music, under his own name as well as under projects such as KETEV and collaborations with composers Mats Erlandsson and Viktor Orri Árnason. His work has been released on notable labels including Deutsche Grammophon,130701/Fatcat, Bedroom Community, Miasma and Subtext. He has played at various music and arts venues around the world, including MaerzMusik, KW
