New York, NY (Top40 Charts) NYC based alt-pop rising star Nicolas McCoppin is back with a synth-drenched single "more like u", which will appear on his upcoming sophomore project mind motel (November 10th). You can stream the song and view the official visualizer here. With a mission to create space for himself in pop music, McCoppin offers a fresh perspective on the timeless genre. His catalog is characterized by deeply personal storytelling mixed with an impressive vocal ability and songs that are as emotionally impactful as they are danceable - with a razor sharp aesthetic sensibility and partnerships with fashion houses like Moschino Couture tying the project together. 2021 was a standout year for McCoppin, with an official US radio debut of his single "Heaven". The track entered Mediabase's US Pop/Top 40 radio chart at #40 in June of 2021 and continued to climb charts each week with rave reviews from station programmers across the US. McCoppin's career quickly skyrocketed with a distribution deal with AWAL that boosted his online fanbase and cultivated over 850,000 worldwide streams on his debut EP, "Loverboy" the same year. The EP was featured on a billboard in Times Square for its' global release weekend and led to Nicolas being named as an Instagram Official Pride Creator. This success led to a deluxe repackage of the EP, where McCoppin collaborated with prolific songwriter Bonnie McKee (Katy Perry - "Teenage Dream") to write the track "Dancing on the Moon".

"more like u" and earlier single "L.E.S. boy" are the beginning of a new era for McCoppin that will culminate in the release of his second project mind motel on Friday, November 10th. His latest song is a poignant, dark alt-pop romp that will satisfy fans of darkwave and electro in equal measure. Moody synths and industrial tinged drum samples underpin Nicolas's compelling vocal performance, with a driving beat giving the song an earworm quality that pop fans will love. The song delivers a catchy melody while emphasizing the emotional core of the lyrics, showing yet again that Nicolas delivers pop music that is more than the sum of its parts. Stream "more like u" and watch the official visualizer out on VEVO.

Nicolas has this to say about the the track: "'more like u' is by far one of the most vulnerable tracks on the record. it was a very intentional contrast to have the production feel so big against the intimate details of the relationship I had with my body at the time. I think everybody can relate to a breakup driving you a little crazy. however, as a gay man, there is an added layer of social pressure in terms of my body image. 'more like u' is the story of my destruction and rebirth into the person i am today - which is someone i've finally grown to love. I hope this song can first and foremost be a banger, but second something that offers a little comfort to people that don't feel at home in their body. this song allowed me to reckon with myself and my image of my body and come out the other side as a more whole person."

Nicolas's new project mind motel will be released worldwide on Friday, November 10th. A mini-tour stopping in NYC, LA and Boston will be announced soon, along with vinyl and merch pre-orders. You can stream "more like u" and keep up with Nicolas on social media.
